As mentioned, the first Andrée Wiltens painted two paintings when he lived on Watermeerwijk.
These paintings were hanging at Bargsigt.
In 2019, Bargsigt went up for sale, and a niece of ours received an email asking if she wanted to buy the paintings.
I contacted the seller, who turned out to be the appraiser of the estate.
She told me that the paintings should cost €1500 each.
I was eager to have them 'in the family,' but I found this price a bit steep.
Two years later, I received an email: someone had found the paintings in a thrift shop (!) and had entered the artist's name into Google. That led to my name, and she asked if I wanted to take over the paintings.
Her price was somewhat more reasonable: €100 each.
But when I had them at home, I thought: where am I going to put them?

Google is my best friend: I typed in Watermeerwijk and came across Marjolein's website, who lived on the estate years ago because her father was the game warden/ park ranger there.
She collects everything related to Watermeerwijk and sent me photos of her postcards.
I told her about the paintings, and she was eager to come see them.
When I said I didn't want to keep them myself (after all, they have no value for our family), she asked what I wanted for them.
The €100 each that I had paid for them didn't bother her, and she happily went home with her two paintings!
Later, she emailed me that the paintings had found a nice spot above her sofa.
